This specialized English version is designed to help such peopleovercome or avoid the most common obstacles to reading with understanding.
One of the basic ideas that guided the work on this versionwas that good translation is good communication. The main concern of thetranslators was always to communicate to the reader the message of theBiblical writers as effectively and as naturally as the original writingsdid to people in that time. The translators worked to convey to their specialaudience the meaning of the Biblical text in a form that would be simpleand natural. There are several special features used to aid understanding.

God made the sky and earth. At first, the sky was completelyempty; nothing was on the earth. Darkness covered the ocean, and God'sSpirit moved over the water.
Before the world began, the Word was there. The Wordwas there with God. The Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. All things were made through him (the Word). Nothing was made without him. |
