Luke 9: 44

Lay these sayings in your ears.

This Hebrew idiom was translated word-for-word into the Greek and likewise oninto the English, making for a statement that is not English. In Hebrew, it is an emphaticcommand: "Listen carefully and remember well, for what you are about to hear is veryimportant."
