NewCovenant |
It uses as many English words as necessary to bring outthe richness, force, and clarity of the Greek text. It is intended as acomparison to, or commentary on, the standard translations, complementingthem in several respects.
It follows the Greek order of words in a sentence. Itattempts to bring out the full meaning of each Greek word. Distinctionsbetween Greek synonyms are brought out. The force of the Greek negativeme is carried over into the translation. The action found in theGreek tenses of verbs is carried over into English. It points up the significanceof the use of personal pronouns in the Greek text. The presence or absenceof the definite article is noted. The distinction between the conditionalparticiple of a hypothetical condition and that of a fulfilled conditionis noted. It is hoped that it gives the reader a clearer understandingof certain words used in previous translations.
The reader is cautioned against thinking that this translationis full of interpretation and paraphrase. The translator has held veryclosely to the earliest and most accurate Greek texts. "Kurios"is translated as Sir, Master, or Lord, depending on how thespeaker recognized Jesus.
Paragraph divisions are made with the view of helpingthe reader interpret the contents of a verse within its context. The conventionalchapter and verse numberings are given at the top and at the side of apage, respectively. More than a dozen Greek sources were used as aids.

In the beginning the Word was existing. And the Wordwas in fellowship with God the Father. And the Word was as to His essenceabsolute deity. This Word was in the beginning in fellowship with God theFather. All things through His intermediate agency came into being, andwithout Him there came into being not even one thing which has come intoexistence. |
