| The Gospel of Truth |
This is a Velentinian meditation on the Gospel, translated from the Coptic by Kendrick Grobel. In about 1945, peasant labourers making an excavation in Upper Egypt accidentally dug into a tomb which contained a large number of books. This writing was one of forty-eight works that were found.
All of the works are judged to be of the period C.E. 250 to C.E.350. This work was written in a non-Sahidic dialect, unlike the other works found. The codex is of the Valentinian sect, not Sethian as are the others. However, it is Gnostic. It contains teachings on various topics.
This edition was published by Adam and Charles Black in 1960.
