This is the Ethiopic version of a Christianized rescension of the Buddhist legend of the Buddha and the Bodhisattva, translated by E.A. Wallis Budge. It is edited from two good, though late, manuscripts. This translation has been made as literal as possible and has been divided up with headings for ease of reading.
Within the text is a definite statement to the effect that Thomas, one of the twelve apostles, preached the gospel in India and converted Indians to Christianity. Other documents also contain this statement.
This edition was published by Cambridge University Press in 1923.
